Memorial Meeting - Khorshed Jungalwala

Dear friends,

Last weekend we lost a very dear friend and community member, Khorshed Jungalwala, who succumbed to her illness after a long battle with cancer. Khorshed had contributed in numerous ways to building our community with her volunteerism and vision.

A Memorial meeting is to be held at noon on Sunday, May 20th, at the Arbab Rustam Guiv Darbe Mehr, 106 Pomona Road, Suffern, NY 10901 (Directions can be found here). The memorial meeting will be preceded by a set of short prayers.

Friends desiring to say a few words about Khorshed and their association with her will have an opportunity to address the group.

Homi D. Gandhi,
President, ZAGNY

Condolences from ZAGNY community

Dear Jungalwala family and friends,

During our numerous long conversations on ‘phone, Khorshed always reminded me of that often quoted phrase, “it takes a village to raise a child”. Khorshed, a small group of that “village” is represented here today to say “Goodbye” to you. Khorshed, you have been loved and revered by all who live in that village and by those who have even came remotely in contact with you.

Our close relationship developed when our sons started studying in the Boston area and then combined with my wife and Khorshed’s common interests in Zoroastrian studies and literature, it resulted in deep appreciation for each other. But it was during the last 6 years when I came to appreciate the qualities of this great lady when we started working together in spreading the message of “One World Body” after her tireless efforts to develop an impartial “World Body Working Group” report. Although that dream of “One World Body” did not materialize, she always said that it might be achieved when we will become a little wiser in the years to follow and when the next generation will take it up where we had left. I trust and hope Khorshed that someday that dream of yours will crystallize.

On behalf of the New York Zoroastrian community and ZAGNY Board of Directors, I offer our sincere condolences to you Firoze, Ferzin, Jehangir, and all family members. Khorshed, we all will miss you but will make sure that your legacy will not be forgotten and we will try to pass on that torch to our future generations.

On behalf of the New York Zoroastrian community,

Homi D. Gandhi
President, ZAGNY
